Fishing Harbour

Fishing Harbour in Tema is Ghana's premier fishing port facility, operated by Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA). This working fishing port comprises three distinct operational areas: the Inner Fishing Harbour, Outer Fishing Harbour, and the traditional Canoe Basin. The Inner Harbour features 467 metres of mooring quay accommodating up to 8 large vessels, with depths of 3.5-4.0 metres and a protective water area of 10 hectares. The Outer Harbour handles deeper-draft tuna vessels and deep-sea fish carriers with 486 metres of quay and depths reaching 5.0-7.0 metres. The facility is designed to meet world-quality food safety standards with modern infrastructure, hygienic conditions, and professional personnel. The Canoe Basin serves as a traditional fish landing beach managed toll-free, preserving artisanal fishing operations that peak during June-September months. Visitors and tour groups can experience authentic fishing port operations, observe commercial fishing activities, learn about Ghana's maritime heritage, and understand the logistics of modern and traditional fishing industries.
